The wisest doubt if Truth
Be true indeed;
But that a rose is beautiful
The world’s agreed.

Whether we hold or not
Life ends in death,
That love’s most bitter-sweet
Who questioneth?

Based not on dreams, but on
His certainty
Of beauty, love and pain
Man’s life must be.
