We never said all the things we wanted to say
We never tried to get it out

We kept the hurt in, the pain, the ache...
Thinking we could get past them
Move on to what we used to be
Like nothing ever happened
Sometimes a building has to be torn apart
So that it can be restored to a better state
So the only thing we succeeded in doing,
Was going up in flames
The coals we never thought to put water to
Keeping them hidden, where they couldn't be reached
All because we didn't want to burn each other
Funny how we ended up burning, together
