On the Winter Solstice Lunar Eclipse

in #poetry7 years ago

Orion watches Luna's face grow dark
And dark, and finally turn copper-red.
The Earth has cast her shadow on her. Mark
The longest night when Luna hid her head,
Apparently enraged at something in
The stars. To frighten her, Orion shoots
An aster arrow. Will she now begin
To show her face? What darkness dares, pollutes
Her joy? Why does the Earth deprive her of
The Sun who loves to shine his light upon
His love? I stand upon the Earth. Above
The moon begins to lighten. Will the dawn
Arrive before the dawn? I stand alone
My mind creating truth from facts well known.

This is a lovely poem! I quite enjoy it honestly and the way you speak from multiple perspectives, wondering about the eclipse! A picture might have brightened the poem more, but it creates a poem in my mind, where luna has a face and from many perspectives from space <3 keep it up!

Thank you very much. I'm glad you enjoyed the poem. I often try in my poems to speak from multiple perspectives--sometimes explicitly, and sometimes, as in this one, more subtly. :-)
