In front of the Ocean
we are just small scallops
who can only comb the sand
on the edge
on the coast
shaken by the tidal waves
worried about the arrival of the newcomers.

And we try to avoid:
in the coral reef
in our dull shells
we condemn the roars of the sea
hoping, the tides will not drag us out.

But we can’t:
the tidal waves finally hit the rocks
threw us out
dragging us into the middle the Ocean
while the nudges of the newcomers
often crush our shells

###BAHASA INDONESIA###

PARA PENYAIR

Di hadapan Samudera
kita hanya secuil lokan kecil
yang cuma bisa menyisir pasir
di pinggir
di pesisir
oleng oleh sapuan gelombang pasang
cemas akan jamah orang-orang pendatang.

Dan kita coba menghindar:
di ceruk karang
dalam cangkang kusam
kita kutuki gemuruh Lautan
sambil berharap, pasang tak akan menyeret kita ke luar.

Namun kita tak bisa:
pasang toh akhirnya menghantam karang
menghempaskan kita ke luar
menyeret kita ke tengah lautan
sementara jamah orang-orang pendatang
seringkali meremukkan cangkang.
