JUST A PIECE OF YOU: A POEM
A fraction of your breath
Is all I need to live,
To resuscitate my heart
To beat for you like a drum
Thrumming for restless feet
Pounding the soil into mounds
To grow life to feed bodies,
Forgotten shadows lying
On the outskirts of my thought.
A quart of your tears
Is all I need to live,
To plant a part of me
In the soil of your skin,
To sanctify the path
My tongue will take
When I speak of all that
I have witnessed in your eyes,
The terror, the need, the hope,
The shadows that hide between
Each and every blink.
A sense of your touch
Is all I need to light up,
To charge up my spirit,
To blink life to my soul
That sits in the darkness
Of chrysalis waiting, always
Waiting to become, to breathe,
To live, love and light the world,
To fly into being, a butterfly,
A moth dancing to the flames
That your touch brings.
