This is a freewrite hosted by @mariannewest. I seem to go and come. Some times, I am all over the idea and there are times when I am too busy to join in the fun.

It is quite simple really. According to @mariannewest;

A SACRIFICE

She shaved her hair first;
A clipper shorn the locks
Like grass, like clipped hedges
To the floor.

Then she scraped her eyebrows,
Pinched her nose hairs
And clipped her goatee.
She finally looked feminine.

Next she lathered her limbs,
Set the shaving stick to skin
And scraped every follicle of hair
From her legs; rinse, soap, scrape.

She drew a dark line
On her swollen eyebrows,
Hiding the bald spot with a pencil, then
Her hands roved over her body.
It felt smooth like baby skin,
Like sweet sin,
Like a kind of body
A man would want to lie with.

She opened the door and found him
On the bed, soap and remote,
Watching a hairy girl
Giving a blow job to
Another hairy man.

She touched her eyebrows
And felt the bead of blood.
No sacrifice was worth this.
If she bled her throat
He still won't have noticed.

This is deep.

People lose their identity trying so hard to fit in, trying so hard to please society, friends, parents, lovers and in that process they lose themselves. After altering so much and you realize the world does not really care you become sad, depressed even and you try to retrace your steps.

Well I really hope it isn't too late.

Wonderful post, with deep deep meaning.

Yes, people lose themselves just to keep friends, families, lovers. Is the sacrifice of self worth it? For if I am sacrificing my love for reading, for example, just to make you happy and you are not sacrificing anything in return, then something is wrong.

Exactly. Know if your sacrifice is valued, and more often than not it isn't. Why then lose thyself

People never cease to amaze me

Yeah bit when it comes around love, who thinks rationally? I know I don't.

Very deep. People suffer to make themselves desirable - while we need to be who we are and be happy with ourselves.

Maybe you are going to take 40 % off your writing time today? 🤣 Better not. 5 minutes is such a deal!!!

Yes being who you are is a type of freedom in itself. It allows one to explore all the facets of their personality and share with the world their version of beauty and/or ugly as the case may be.

Thank you for stopping by @mariannewest.

It really is the ultimate freedom - self-acceptance. I think we would have a much better wolrd if more people would be happy in their own skin.
