"Atonement"

Thank you, father, for all your lectures and preaching
Thank you, father, for giving me a chance to get a good education
Thank you for all the worry and care you have showered me
Thank you for the boundless love and ceaseless understanding.
Above all, Thank you for being an exceptional father.

But please forgive me
If I turned out this way
My world turned upside down
I lost all sense of self-restraint you have taught me
Misled to the shadows, entire being went astray.

I abandoned all the lectures you have packed for me
So it never hit me that I was being unrighteous
It didn't occur to me that you were being torn from the inside
That I was tearing your hearts down into pieces
Every time I go against your will.

I yearn to let you know how sorry I am.
But my shamefaced subsistence can't utter any word
The words of apology and thanks won't leave my lips.
The courage to say the whole truth has shunned me
So with this little poem, I deliver everything.
