Stranger's Kiss (Revisiting My Old Work - Repost)

in #poetry7 years ago (edited)

It took some minutes to adjust.
Didn't know one's saliva can dry up that fast.

My throat croaked.
Struggling to manage a hallo back.

Words were long fried.
You stood there, never turned your back.

It had been a while.
Since I had seen such a smile.

Hey stranger.
You are new here I gather.
It would be unwise to be a loner.

I stammered a few words.
Understanding I had lost my cards.

The game was in your hands.
As your presence held me like a waved wand.

You signalled me to follow.
I didn't care if it was to the gallows.

Interested in the now not a probable morrow.
I followed.

We left the crowd.
To mingle under some glowing clouds.

Say something.
Anything.

Your words encouraged mine.
As the balcony door secluded our shrine.

This is not the wine...
And I get us being strangers draws a line.

But I swear you smell like pines.
Earthy.

Your chortle made the night warm.
Guilty. I own a farm.
Wonder why you didn't smell the barm.

We both laughed.
A minute dragged.
Eyes locked and desires plugged.

I'm sorry but...

Closing the gap between us.
My lips didn't even make a fuss!

Sometimes revisiting old work is can be a source of inspiration. I recall being in some very happy place while writing this
