Flawed Goddess
Under this mellow African skin,
I can feel raging demons' thirst for a win
Imaginary enemies crawling up from hell
Ready to put a full stop to my living cells.
Hidden from my infectious smile
Sunken in the depths of my eyes for a while
Infinite worry and sadness over who and what
Constantly seeking powers to heal every hurt.
My body is a shrine of invisible scars
Trails of abusive prints adorn it like stars
Painful history embedded on my curvy edges
Made myself a queen through self-pledges.
I represent a flawed version of womanhood
The girl who was rushed to adulthood
By a continuum of events beyond her
Long before her voice was slurred.
The sacred valley between my thighs
Can put a dipstick on a permanent high
My two sets of lips can irrigate any desert
Readily dripping warm dessert.
I blaze through storms of adversity
Flourish among Africa's colorful diversity
Withstanding doubts and occasionally insults
Embracing each of my faults.
Mine.
Thank you for coming.

Lovely. Does this address you personally or the AAfrican woman in general?
I am an African woman so it can go both ways :)
