Unintended Poetry - Insomnia
So... you ever have one of those corny moments when you say something, and it rhymes, and you laugh and make that good old fashioned Dad-joke?
You know the one I mean.
Come on.
Say it with me:
I'm a poet and I didn't even know it!
I've never considered myself a poet. I do write songs, which is a type of poetry, I suppose, but the songs, for me, are more about the melody and less about the lyrics. Most of my lyrics I consider to be corny, cliche things.
But you know, there is apparently a poet hiding inside of all of us. And there's this totally awesome dude at The Writer's Block who has magical poet-finding powers that I don't comprehend who is showing us that hidden poet. His name is @damianjayclay here on Steemit, but we know him as BigBadBear on discord.
He takes the words we say, literally, right from the chat scroll, and POOF makes them into a poem. They don't get reordered, added to, nothing. Just removes the interceding words of other speakers, a quick visual reformat, and the most mundane of conversation becomes something lovely!
So here we go. This is the first example (there are already more! They will be shared soon) of my #unintendedpoetry.
Insomnia
I went to bed early last night,
because I was tired,
and laid there trying
to be asleep
then gave up and went
on Discord.
I might almost be tired again
(staring at screen does that)
but you guys aren't boring
or tiresome.
It's random insomnia.
So hard this time
of year. It's too dark –
dark for more hours than I need.
I wake up. It's still dark;
my brain gets confused.
I'm feeling sleepyish again.
I'll try to sleep.
LOOK AT THAT. So cool. I'm a poet, and I didn't even know it.
I've been #editedbyclay.
Teehee, these are enjoyable :P
I'd like to hear a song or two you've written btw!
Wow, my mind is actually a little blown right now. I might have to make more of an effort to get on discord simply to have my random speak turned into poetry. -Aimee
I'm saving up for a seat belt and helmet - then I need a few months just to build up courage. I doubt I'll ever be ready too.. I can't even say it.
Sorry - I don't understand how this is related. :/
