Reflecting on an Uprooted Tree [Original Poetry]

in #poetry7 years ago (edited)

Roots exposed
Vulnerable, dirt clinging
Like clumps of hair from a skull
The tree was a decade old
A sapling compared to the march of other giants
And yet the force
Required to rip a giant babe
From the arms of such a mother
Is beyond our reckoning

Vivid & disturbing snapshot you create, here, @sunravelme:

"Vulnerable, dirt clinging
Like clumps of hair from a skull"

& the terrible awe of Mother Nature's creative/destructive powers:

"Required to rip a giant babe
From the arms of such a mother"

I think of the aftermath of the last/first hurricane I attended in S. Florida.
Milton's words come to mind, by association: "Beauty which hath terror in it"

A good poem for Earth Day, somehow (which should be every day :)

Well done!

Thank you! Ultimately I thought it was a good metaphor for a lot of things, but I like the idea of it for earth day as well!

This is really rather lovely, thanks so much for sharing <3

Eviscerated. Yes. Lo siento.

❤ that's a great word

One of muh fave hurty-feelers.

Excellent your poetry
