Emergency Stop
i used to be the one
working day and night
i used to be the one
who refused to fight
i used to be the superwoman
with the cape and tights
until i learned that it was killing me
i watch us age
i watch us fall
without a single prayer
i watch us rage
i watch us ache
and then redouble dedication
i cannot be the one
to hold the world up on my shoulders
my spine just don’t bend that way
i’m bringing an end
to this redundant cycle of destruction
i’m bringing a beginning
to caring for me
to be the hero i needed
when i was in distress
i’m done crying on my own
