she was made of sugar
set on fire
doused in honey
and sprinkled with salt
rolled in crushed chilis
then dusted with perfume

they tried to tame
her hair
her voice
her hips and thighs
her breasts
but she
could not be contained

she was too big for them
and their box
and their chains

she birthed worlds
from her soul
