PLAY-DAY

As I journey with Reminiscence,
The great god of memory.
Swimming deep into the infancy of the 21st century
Flashbacks of early glees,
Nostalgia of parted faces
Destiny dissolved us,
He said we have different races.

Diverse shoes we have,
To tie differently our different laces
Our feet-made sandcastles flanked in front-ways by flowers
On the open sands, we gambolled gracefully like lovers
The 'ojuju calabar' and 'boju boju' - our greatest phrases
The thickets and lavatories - our hiding places
When we cackled till cracks crooked our tender faces.

I still hear,
Our careless tongues that vomited noise into our parent's siesta
The somersaulting, jumping and singing
That made each day more like a fiesta
Innocent bonds, our discords never saw sun-set
They'll soon be on the sands together, Our parents could always bet
Such was our simplicity that made all tears to come to melt.

I recall
The way we leaped and loped under the rain.
At the feet of rain, all our bothers slain
How we prayed the day to stay a little longer
And plead the moon to wait a little longer
Our play, Our bond, needed time to get stronger
Whither one went, we all went and whither all went, each was found.

We were like gullible feet, to one body, all was bound
Bit by bit, our feet have parted, each to walk his way
Fate through time has spoken that there's more to life than play
Our play-days have slept, the sun is rise, it's now a new day.
