Day 90 - Rain

in poetry •  2 years ago

By Samuel Kodie

In nursery, I rhymed
Riding a horse for beggars
For rain to go away
Because I wanted to play
But when mates became ogre
The dwarf I was, slimed

In basic school, I prayed
Partaking in a sacred religious act
For rain to come
Because sleep, I wanted to slam
But when friends became a pact
The loner I was, strayed

In high school, I rejoiced
Joining in the celebration of déjà vu
For rain to stay
Because my bed wanted to play
But when reality became blue
The men I needed to be, overjoyed
