Analogy of pain

alexander-krivitskiy-2vXYyYMcnzI-unsplashdolor.jpg

You know about pain,
not the one that makes you scream
when you stumble over the stone.
But the one that stings the time,
snatches the silence in a scream,
only the souls that suffer it can hear,
prolongs the nights
drilling the conscience.

It sticks in the chest, in the dreams,
in the dosed breathing,
in that look that returns the mirror
where you are a grimace suffering a body,
it makes the garments tear,
while a rain of prayers
asks for the keys to heaven,
the wrath of God,
to open the gates of hell.

Pain that brings tears to your eyes without touching your skin,
pain that is shared among neighbors,
in a bleeding catharsis,
searching for guilt not understood.

What am I paying for?
If I have only known how to darken the days of my neighbor,
If I have only sown doubts where there is certainty.
If I have only inoculated anguish in lands of peace.

Pain that harvests darkness in the light.
This pain is a hell
where happiness hides,
eats smiles
embraces others,
turns them into accomplices of the abyss,
sinks the days,
the hours are a raging river
they drag you into the muck of eternity.
