Wounded Passage
I had to lift my roots
to make it through
the wounded passage
cried warning for the heart
far too late, I’d seen beyond
veins humming electric
into the ravine below
where I swam as a minnow
in the fluid of my own desire
never told me this was possible
this my truth non-option
I thought to climb
realized I’d always been climbing
an endless mountain downward
thinking I rose righteous
churning butter from the
cream of denial
please touch my ear when you
whisper with those painted lips
I thought it would be appropriate for the first poem I share here to be one which features a minnow.

That was a truly beautiful poem! You have a gift with words! Poetry is an art of its own kind... one which I think many don't understand or grasp on many levels...
I used to write poetry when I was younger... don't think I was very good though lol... I think my "standard writing" is better...hehe
Thought I would share my latest with you, if you care to take a gander...

Thank you so much! I loved reading your work. I'm really glad you linked it. There is so much good stuff on Steemit, and it's awful when great posts slip by.
I also wrote poetry when I was younger. Though I still do, I don't identify as a poet. I love working with poetry as a form, especially as a way to impose unstructured structure on my emotions, but I no longer identify as a poet. Personally, I feel it's the writing area I'm weakest in. I am known to be very hard on myself. :)
Thank you so much @shawnamawna what a lovely compliment!!! Yes, it is too true, re. peoples work getting somewhat lost... really glad you enjoyed it.
Well... if not a poet, I think you make a fine poetry writer ;) and ye, it i a wonderful way to express emotions :)
Re. the writing... well... you know what they say... practice makes perfect :)
Thank you again for the lovely feedback. Means the world to me. Lovely to "connect" xxx
Nice Poem, but I am also very intrigued by the photograph. That looks amazing
It does! I believe it's the Canary Islands. Here is the direct link: https://pixabay.com/en/canary-islands-botanical-garden-2066351/
