"SPU Poetry Contest #1 "Smoke Memories In The Wind"
The wind floats gently up...
Its cargo the memories of two dozen trees.
Removed abruptly, ground up so swiftly.
Huge slivers loaded on the waiting flat bed...
Their destination unknown to us or the wind...
Underneath the ground the colonies of roots are mourning,
They weep and cry, and speak of all the nurture they shared...
Who knows who depends on these huge living canopies
The smoke knows, we know, the mushrooms know...
My grandson knows!
A Birthday Limerick, by @madevi is the inspiration for this.
http://www.radiolab.org/story/from-tree-to-shining-tree/ is the science behind the poem.
It was sad to see so many big strong trees taken down in our woods!
Indeed!
Nice. God bless you, mi brother Patrick
