I have a lot of struggles in life and this poem seems to touch a part of my struggle. Thank you for sharing a part of your struggle. It really helps when emotions are let out which is the road to recovery.

Absolutely! I'm sorry to hear you struggle with depression, or some similar condition. It's so debilitating.

I hope you find effective coping strategies m8. Personally, I found exercise and meditation to be the best levelers 🙂

Beautiful words, @raj808. I will admit to having my own struggles over the years. (Thankfully doing fantastic now!) But it’s so difficult to describe, to find words that resonate and capture the essence of that dynamic duo — depression and anxiety — without cheapening its impact or diminishing how painful It can be. I don’t think I have ever succeeded at it. But I think you did here in this poem.

I have no words jayna... thank you. I take it to be a true endorsement of a poem when a writer of your quality appreciates one of my poems.

Economy of words is so important in poetry and I'm trying to find that economy with these short poems in this series.

Thanks again and I'm glad you enjoyed the poem, and that you're not effected by mental health struggles anymore 🙂

There was a climax of a sort @raj808 then there was this poetic calmness at the end really, I mean it's like the embers of fire calming down to give off soot really, it's purposeful, short, straight to the point and it's so good I wanted it to continue, dramatic effect to poetry wow

Thanks Jose.

There was a climax of a sort, then there was this poetic calmness at the end.

I'm glad you noticed the rhythm of the poem, it's something I did on purpose. To me, that's what fear feels like, it's kind of like a burning wave of magma.

Thank you Raj for putting into words how I sometimes feel.

Hey Mav.

I thought this poem might resonate with you.

From everything you wrote in your last post I know that hope maybe seems a long way away. I've been there, which is why I know it's a stupid thing for me to start with the platitudes like 'you'll get through this' or even worse when people intimate that depression is a choice. All I can do is offer my support and friendship 🙂

I do hope things get better sooner rather than later though mate. Or seems like you're taking the right steps going out to the cinema etc. I only started getting over my social anxiety when I started pushing myself to go out of my comfort zones.

Anyway, big virtual hugs from me bro 👍

Totally agree with the cathartic effect of writing! It's a great way to acknowledge an emotion, but then also work to let it go!

Yes, for sure 🙂

Poetry is especially good for that for me. Although, when I'm writing a poem with a view to submitting to am anthology I tend to lean away from the cathartic poems as it's often hard to separate yourself emotionally to achieve the best final edit.

Thanks for stopping by plantstoplanks 🙂

Dealing with fears in our minds is greater victory over forces of life.

Nice poem @raj808

Dealing with fears in our minds is greater victory over forces of life.

Yeah, that's true. Once the battle is won it's even stronger a victory if the struggle was more fierce.

Thanks for reading my poem and for your comment @maxdevalue 🙂

Now we know your real name :) Wish you the best man!

Ha ha, yeah. I always use that copyright sign with my name on creative works as I have and continue to have fiction and poetry published outside of steem. It's basically a contingency in case I get lucky in the future and have a novel, or collection of poetry published through a publishing house. Using the copyright sign with my name means that if I ever want to include any of my fiction or poetry from steem in collections of my work, it's clearly marked with ownership and date on the Blockchain.
