KISS But Don't Grasp, Day 77 of the 100 Days of Poetry @d-pend
KISS But Don't Grasp
aches and pains
battered by the teaspoon
dissolved in the vortex
sublimation in the steam
emitted from my cocoa cup
given half a chance
rheumatism would defy zen
turn a hip into a cliff face
thoughts like lemmings
plummet from the transcendental
back to a Earth, that isn't
that never was
that never will be
still the impact hurts
colonize my nirvana
with frowning puppy dogs
and snarling kittens
turn my barista
into the walking dead
the slow kind
have some blind faith
why don’t you, you say
why do you keep playing
such mournful melodies
your positivity synthesizer
is still functional, isn’t it
salvage, power it up, and recharge the cells
it’s a repetitive process
making music to transport yourself
from a nightmare fugue state
back to where it all makes sense
to finally make peace
with the memories of unhappier times
Elton was wrong
turn OFF those sad songs
learn the lessons transmitted
from emotional hand slaps
eureka
keep it simple stupid
KISS but don’t grasp

Ooh! ❤
I would turn off those sad songs for pain, certainly, but turn them on later in the day for a little delicious melancholia (but not too much of that either).
Your "irony" tag has me a bit stumped though. I don't always like asking for elaboration with poetry but I'm curious with this one :)
Thank you, Sue. I just mean the piece should be read with a sense of irony. That is do not mean things to be taken too seriously:)
