Warm Summer South

The warm Summer South is all
lightning bugs and sweaty hugs,
sour-smelling heads and short-sleeve threads,
bright clear moons and flat raccoons in the road.

It's swimming holes and fishing poles,
Mowing yards and plowing hard,
Cut-off jeans and bare feet,
Flip flops and roadside veggie stops on the way to the beach.

It's watermelons and front porch story-telling,
Homemade ice cream and roller coaster screams,
It's barbecue and melt in your mouth...
