Cresting the surface of the shallows

Hey Friends,

Realization arrives in static waves
Cresting the surface of the shallows
We never seemed to move beyond
Dulled in the honeyed promises
Dangling I the hangman's snare
laced with a malformed hope
And the illusion of change.

I'm tired of writing love letters to the ghost of who we used to be.
