Nigeria is a peculiar and a surreal clime. The more you take askance of what is happening, the more dazed you are of the disbelieving existence. Corruption has transmogrified itself to an unprecedented level owing to the tacit approval from the government. I have been asking myself that for how long would we stay in this abyss of docility while they ride rough-shod with sheer inhumanity.

The pulse is tense,
The atmosphere is foul,
In abject dejection we are plunged,
They cheer in recline, we cry about decline.

Corruption...a bane to us...a bliss to them,
In-house corruption treated they have with deodorant,
Despite the prevalent economic irritant,
We bear and grin... In bliss they think they win.

Corrupt cases they treat with deodorants,
Shelving the malignant like a sore thumb,
Treatment they give at their whims and caprices,
A toll it takes on us on the lower rung.

Hospitals in fallow they lay,
Schools in utter decrepit they wallow,
Roads in abysmal sight they recline,
They cheer while we bear the brunt.

A change we must quickly find,
If we do not want to be in the bind,
Our votes we must use with gumption,
Unless you want to be in an abyss in perpetuation.
