RE: The Honeybees [Poem]

in #poetry6 years ago

Wow, this was truly beautiful. I love the combination of the prose and poetry. The reminiscence of those picnic days and bright imagery, pollen, bees; quite loud and alive, compared to the granite gloomy cell that you are now stuck in. The contrast is quite strong and it works great for both scenes to be more meaningful.

Side-comment: A lot of species of bees are endangered simply because of humans/beekeepers, and our focus on commercialising honey. With the huge increase in honeybees worldwide, other species are dying out and therefore, the honey industry is killing our ecosystem slowly. (May not be 100% accurate, but somewhat accurate for sure, it's been a while since I read about this.)

Thanks, Jeremy! I loved the idea of contrasting themes as was part of TWB Poetry contest, and really wanted to try it again. It brings home the dire situation.

We are pretty heavy on the honey industry, agreed. Though, I think if that were to lessen, the damage to honeybees and the ecosystem would be significant. Our intervention has left no form of a feasible return.

Yeah, that's part of the worst things; good hindsight but no foresight. You cannot bring back extinct species (unless some form of cloning system and elaborate science; but that's for another scifi story.)

Haha, ideas are forming...
