Intertwined | An Original Poem

Intertwined

Your face hides
behind sunglasses
and a hooded jacket.

In the chill of the night
the warm mist of your breath
creeps onto my shoulders.

I hurry my way home,
rapidly turn the key
and slam the door shut
as soon as I walk in.

I sigh in relief
until I look in the mirror.

Your reflection
stands behind mine,
our shadows,
intertwined.
