Opening her eyes, she could only perceive a midnight black mist surrounding her like a shroud,  
She had wished so many nights, for a new chance at love, each night crying into the shadows, so loud.
 
Now, burning red eyes, softly above her, glowing,  
She gazed around her in awe, frightened and unknowing.
He congealed from his vaporous form, Slithering  and beside him also floated alongside ,  
an enchanted, juicy red apple, As she covered herself with a quilt, to hide.

“Wha--what is happening?" She gasped in a squeal.
He just slithered closer still and made the appeal:
"You swore an oath to never love another, when your lover met death.
But I heard your pleas in the darkness, felt your pain in each breath!
Your oath can be broken  Once again, you can love,
 just eat the shiny red apple"
And with that, at her, he did shove ...  

She grabbed it greedily and without hesitation,
Bit into it deeply - To the mysterious serpents elation.  
A strange mist appeared and through it, so did her once dead, loving man.
He slid his body sensuously over hers, and she too, ran -  
her hands, needily, over his smooth hairless chest, meeting his lips with a kiss.
Opening her eyes, quickly,  in panic,she could only perceive a midnight black mist.

Surrounding her like a shroud, as burning red eyes glowed again softly above her, with new feature,
She gazed around, in awe as he congealed from his vaporous snake form back into the handsome creature,
Crouching before her like a cat, and now quite naked and alive,
his grin was feral, her eyes wild with a lust none could hide,   

“This is incredible!” she breathed, looking into her once-dead, lovers eyes.
Not caring and in the moment of what this dark sorcery doth disguise,  
Suddenly, she was pinned beneath him, the muscles beneath his flesh began to bulge,
As the sickening consequences of her actions began to divulge,   

More primal, less ethereal now, he hissed in reaction,
Arching his back, and looked down at her through his slitted eyes with a devilish gleam of satisfaction,  
With preternatural speed he grabbed her wrists and bound them over her head,
holding her down as he leaned on them,  amid pleas of “Oh no! Stop!! No, please, stop!”
She gasped and froze in deep dread,   
Her heart beat so hard and fast she thought it would surely burst in her heaving chest,  
“Oh gods, no,” she breathed, panting, beating and clawing in protest.

 
The serpents pointy head lowered down to her ear and he growled low and deep,
his tongue snaking out to lick the sensitive hollow behind her ear, she shuddered, bewildered, still trying to speak,  

He spoke first, and his smoky voice lisped past rows of wickedly sharp teeth.
“I am the shadow’s best kept secret. Not man, nor beast,  
yet all of the power and mystery of both.
Did you think you would ever love such a being for all eternity,  in all your wildest dreams?”   

She awoke just then, drenched and fully aware,
This was not real - she was safe - it was just a wickedly vile nightmare!

But sitting on her bed stand, unbeknownst to her, just then,  
Sat a juicy red apple, just dripping with Sin!
