Periwinkle and pearl yellow sunrise
the pale purple of obscuring trees
It is too early
when dawn kisses your eyes open

Imprint of loose sheet on skin
the dishwasher beatboxes its soothing song
Laying at the foot of a mountain range
of blankets and broken hearts in the bed

Today you woke up with wings
the cardinals call out your name one syllable at a time
and the peaks of the mountains are beckoning
with the hands of every character in your story
