Steemit Poetry Contest #9 Christmas (Solstice)
Solstice
The shortest day draws in and winters grip is yet to touch
I reach for you but cannot grasp your thinning threads of light
In darkness quickened steps become less hesitant of much
anticipated break from seasons tasks within and with respite
For many moons I've watched you go and lately cast your glow
in brightest deepest moods of pink and orange bringing glee
On frosted mornings glimmers of horizons much below
I long to feel you in my arms for you to walk with me
yet sensing change it's time to cheer you didn't walk away
your journey outward bound complete you turned around at last
we eat and sleep then sleep and eat in honour of this day
the shortest day of winter passes spring will come so fast
winter sunset over London Fields by @outerground
beautiful sunset
thanks Joel. It's the setting sun after the Solstice returns a longer day and the hope of spring returns : ) which is why we celebrate Christmas in the first place
Incredible poem
Best regards and Merry Christmas
