My Seed: Lyrical Poetry (Rap Jam of Mine)

What has four years meant to you,

all the time I spent to do something to

make you light up, right up to the times when

I was feeling blue. What did I ever ask of you?

They say it all begins as a seed, planted deep

in a garden that is watered and reaped.

But it was never my intention, let me mention,

to do much more than just listen to the petals

you have grown while I watched alone,

saw you blossom, get strong on your own,

and I take no credit, it's your life so you let it

turn corners if you want, but I can't follow every one,

you choose to go on. And I'll remember seeing you

walk along on your own two feet, but you were,

will always be, my favorite seed. 

See I didn't need anything, just whatever you

would bring. You gave me hope in every word

that you spoke. I would have given up, thought

just living was enough because I knew you were there

finding your own worth somewhere here

on Earth, just not in the earth I had dispersed

in my garden. But it gets hard on me, to see you gone. Was I wrong?

Were my feelings just too much, waiting for one more touch,

was I never enough? Who else loves you for being you, for being tough?

Go on, do you, but we ain't through. I'll show you,

if you guide me, what it's like to decide to be my seed.

Thinking of a love long gone.

Sometimes things don't grow the way we want them to.

Sometimes love gets away.

But the memories, painful and happy, yeah, they hold on.
