RE: The faces of loneliness... Poem by @mariossap
I would have thought that you would also mention the "lonliness of the long distance runner", or is that just a myth?

haha! :) that's a pleasant loneliness ;)
Yes, I always found it to be so.
But then, my motivation for long distance running was perhaps a little unusual. I used to make my own (very good) beer, and I ran every day so I could drink a lot of it without gaining too much weight :-)
p.s. @liondani tells me that the Loutraki Vertical Kilometer race has been cancelled for this year because one of the main organizers has moved on. Do you know if that is right, and if so, can anything be done to get it started again?
that's not an unusual motivation! :) , after a long run we all deserve some beers and greek soublaki ;)
yes, unfortunately the race is not gonna happen this year, i don't know the reasons why and
If it is re-organized in the future
Would it be a lot of work and possible to re-organize it for later this year? I still want to donate $25,000 in crypto prizes to winners and finishers to give publicity to Loutraki, steemit, and crypto in general. Maybe an organizer could be found for the race at a date later in the year?
that's a great idea and very kind of you! i hope that a new organizer will be found ,but i think it's difficult ,because trail running is not a popular sport ..maybe there were not so many entries for the race ,that's why it was cancelled :(
But wouldn't $25,000 in prizes (which could be easily grown to much more by posting about it in Steemit) generate enough interest in the race to make it worthwhile. After all, a person would only need to finish the race to get a share in the prizes. First second and third place would split half the prize amount (ie. something like $6,000 first, $4,000 second and $2,500 third place). And then EVERYONE who finished the race would split equally the other $12,500. This would be a great incentive for people to get in shape, and would be great publicity for Loutraki, Greece, and crypto.
And the race could still be held in November if necessary. Plenty of time to organize, don't you think?
yes, totally agree! but we need to find a local organizer(from Loutraki),who has the experience and the ability to organize and promote the event
Could you help locate such a person? (I am in Canada, and don't speak Greek)
I would be quite willing to pay such a person for his organizational work. And I think that @liondani might be willing to keep an eye on the progress.
I will speak with one of the organizers in person this week (we had a conversation on phone allready).
This iniative Can give a big boost for the event.. i guess a lot of People are in training now😜
