How did he write Elastic Man?

How the hell did he write Elastic Man?

Don’t get out the sink

Don’t walk down the street

Forget about the roaming charges,

Relax that shattering soul and hark:

There are no more stories of broken

Sunglasses to gorge on.

Flicking the microphone

He pissed himself 

and so did I, 

In awe

Of that blessed wild behemoth at his best; refusing the might 

Of his own back catalogue.

How did he write Elastic Man??

Was it Beano or other DC, 

Or just a wino’s whim bellowed from a Prestwich shadow?  

Over Innsmouth?

Who knows! And who would want to know – 

Knowledge is power

and power is failure.

So take your comics and your bottle 

and get to bed, rub your eyes 

and rub out the word forever like the fake world you can’t escape;

Do not mourn your empty brain, 

Keep your stupid questions.

Let The Observer Magazine sum him up they never will,

That strangeness full of life,

That man who wrote Elastic Man

Just as one should never do.

He was eased and most displeased and 

Passionately we undressed our senses involuntarily to his elastic unfolding,

Wheelchair-bound I felt myself a cripple…

More useless than a DJ.

Absolutely typical how they paraded him like this meme-creature robot, but the papers

The papers are full of rubbish, 

And that too was foretold.

So do not ask how he wrote Plastic Man

– buy latest single “Music Song” –

– read about it in the latest anti-music magazine– 

– go back to bed NOW –

Because you do not need to know;

Unless you do and then you do

– mix up subjunctives – 

– holographic vomiting –

– grotesque rendition –

Cut lines - cut words - cut wires - cut the signal,

Get out of the studio before it’s too late.

Into the street with your demands.
