Free Form Poem Titled "HELLO IT'S ME"

I just wanted to reach out, it’s been a long time. Wanted to make sure you’re still there. Waiting patiently for me to get my act together. It seems like it’s taking an eternity, to find my way back from the darkness. I see glimmers of light, hope in the distance. Pulling me, ebbing and flowing as the tide. And yet here I am standing in a fugue, nothingness and everything all at once. Tiny embers wrapped up in fragments of time.

The journey so far has been painful, more so than I thought it would be. With each passing day I’m closer to something other than myself, and yet further from my dreams. A clamorous existence, woven in moments of respite from sorrow that overwhelms. Maybe this is what it takes to become the kind of man I wish to be. Did I secretly ask for this before I was breathed into this world? Does my spirit know something that I do not? Will it ever fill me in.

My lifeboat in this tempest-tossed world is filled with things of necessity. Love, compassion, empathy, hope, and optimism. For without which I would be lost. I cling to these spiritual and emotional vestments, for if I lose them I lose myself. I dare not forego these last rites. Who knows how long I have.

Outside the sun is setting and the weary moon comes lightly. I know I ramble and meander from this, to that and the other. Such is life, flittering about like a drunken hummingbird. I guess what I’m endeavoring to say is that I’m trying.
