The Trafficker - An Original Poem

The Trafficker

There he sits in court
no remorse on his face
or guilt in his actions
as he smoothed his dress

His lawyers argued loudly
that he wasn't the man
who was charged with a crime
and it was all a scam

He had sold a child
into a life of penury
turned her into a slave
to a woman in a hurry

A young life was crushed
and the child became old
realizing that the world
is different when you are sold

He forgot he had a daughter
sweet and soft at heart
living a life of innocence
till he saw her in the court

His eyes opened in shock
when he realized she was the courts witness
and then he started crying
because that was the end of his business
