Picking Scabs Too Soon Makes Them Bleed Too Much

When uncovering scars
and opening self
it may be advisable
to hide the body inside
for a little while
so that self may ease outside
and see the light.
The self is delicate and raw
used to being protected
The wounds are being revealed
and they are bleeding again
Think of a dog
(or other pure thing)
that has been beaten and abused
Think of how long it takes
for the tail to wag freely,
the eyes to love openly
and trust to be gifted
Push them outside
and the sun is too much,
Try to hug them
and watch them turn away
Force them to love freely
and see the shadows appear
within the walls they are rebuilding
With time and only time
will self and body be ready
to face the
