"Whales" ...original poetry by mepatriot
FYI...this poem is not about our resident whales here, collectively or individually..i.e. there are no hidden slams or meanings directed at any steemians.
Whales
Diligient divers of distant deeps
Mystic guardians of legendary keeps
Scribes of secrets and mysteries sublime
Partners of the Creator at the birth of time
Speaking portents with mournful pleas
Witnessing wonders that no one else sees
Majestic messengers of a coming doom
Breaching and beaching as tragedies loom
Denizens of the deep daring great deeds
Stronger than Poseidon with all of his steeds
Yet not even they with great power bequeathed
Can keep men from dying and sliding beneath
Can you not hear them as they plaintively cry
Urging humanity to change or to die
Created to serve and to rule the wide seas
Nothing could challenge them but the disease
Assaulting hell's entrance they gradually lost
Wrestled with demons at very great cost
Doomed to pay dearly for the sins of men
Spinning, losing control, and then...
