Lost in the Mediterranean Sea
Little bodies hiding in the dark
Scared and scarred, shivering with eyes that spark
They gaze at water and feel the cold
Regret is creeping in but Alas! They were already sold
To the seabed they were offered on silver plates
Forgotten cadavers and meals to big-scale promfrets
Some were seeking luxuries of diamond western dreams
But most were young heads of poor starving families
For their endless suffering this was the only key
Eventually they became mere numbers on next day’s national TV
Their youth was lost for wanting to break free
Their acts were condemned by Death and society
Ignored is a mother’s weeping for the son of her womb
Who’s solely asking for a body to burry in his tomb
This is awesome. Love the pic as well.
Hi @jmvanbreda, I'm glad you liked both the poem and the picture (although the picture is not mine haha). I was hoping it would compliment the poem!
Have a nice day ^^
It certainly does compliment the poem. Great stuff.
the dark ocean of your life is succumbing to failure
I am not sure I understand what you mean, can you please explain more? Thanks for stopping by ^^
I mean, do not succumb to failure even though it's sailing across the ocean
Nice poem. Enjoyed the how shallow the value of some life is and the overshadowing of the struggle for a better life. Reminds me of one of my favorite quotes. "One man's death is a tragedy, a million is a statistic"
Hi @diezeldiddy, thanks for the comment, that quote summarizes the message I wanted to convey!
