Of waking (Day 43 of 100 -- Poetry challenge)
She is dreaming
underwater
and if you look
when the surface
is as glass
she sees you
as her reflection
There is a scratch
in the glass
a lapse —
her thoughts
push through
to you
You are
a letter
in a word
a step
in a stride
a sigh
yet to be sighed
I figured you knew
that the dream
was of you
the you in the stride
the I in the sigh
The glass in the sky

First of all, I want to say I really want to see this as a minimalist voice recording - that is, just you speaking. No video, no music. I'd love that very much indeed.
Now, you know me. I can and do tend to write many words, even about a very short poem.
This piece makes me not want to do so.
In the best way possible.
This piece, even if you hadn't tied it directly to dreaming, feels as ephemeral as a dream. It feels frail and fragile, and that if you'd weigh on it, then it would burst as a bubble, leaving you wondering if it was truly there, while longing for the soft caress of its passing touch on your cheek, as you nap in the dappled shadow in a nice springy day.
This piece is light, and airy. It is a breeze in a long day.
Beautiful.
(I will state that "You are a sigh, yet to be sighed," can often feel too much. Like a platitude, like empty theatrics. It works here.)
