This World… (an original poem)
that expects
something of you
it demands certain things
of which there's nothing
you can do
to defend
what is true
a social accountability
to see it through
hangs
by a thread
of our
fears, hopes and dreams
informed by the past
engaging
in the moment
desiring something more
in place
of its parts
defies what is possible
before you can start
in a world
filled with questions
without understanding
what we seek
more
than who you are
relies on a belief
greater than you know
beyond what we see
navigating a landscape
never
walked on before
for
more than yourself
the acceptance
of possibility
that reside
below
the weak
unforgiving mind
when things go awry
requires responsibility
to what is
still unknown
no matter how hard
you try --
you can't live in this world
and not be part of it.
