THE HOLIDAY BLUES...
Your tan has all but faded
the weather won't abide.
The holidays are here again
to eat you up inside.
Reliving all those memories
of how they used to be,
but loneliness and heartache
is all that you can see.
No-one to buy presents
alone again this year,
waiting for an angel
that never does appear.
The people all around you
filled with so much joy,
writing lists to santa
hoping for a toy.
You see them on the streets
rushing to the mall,
singing songs of hope
where do they get the gall.
Not everyone has someone
to ring in all that cheer,
there waiting for a miracle
to take away there fear.
Feasting on there failures
they hide away each year,
praying for salvation
or just to disappear.
Never reaching out
asking for a hand,
seeing all those feelings
is more than they can stand.
The holidays are here again
preying on your pride
and if you are not careful
they'll eat you up inside.
P.S.,
I've noticed, here in our Steemit community.., there seem to be quite a few people that struggle with the holidays (myself included)… Instead of light and joy, all they feel is hurt and pain. This is just to let you know, you are not alone -- Hang in there...

currently not looking forward to my first Christmas without my parents after both passing in the same year. Your post cheered me up a lot. Stay strong man and this crap will pass soon enough. i'll be blocking out the "festive nonsense" by not watching channels, feasting on box sets and embracing some good marijuana therapy.

I always remember a quote from mother Theresa that goes along these lines,`If you want to help someone today, go and help them feel that they are not alone.' Great post!
It's no fun being alone.., and the holidays have a way of making you feel worse.
