Our Own Worst Enemy… (an original poem)
The indecision and self doubt
we create all the time
unrelenting frustration
so harsh and unkind
those moments of self loathing
that creep into our mind
the lack of self confidence
that leave us maligned
setting expectations
unrealistic goals to achieve
pushing the envelope
because we want to believe
listening to the monster
that lives inside
manifesting the failure
we try to hide
undermining the knowledge
all that is known
breaking your heart
all on its own
against all of the things
we thought we knew
always biting off
more than we can chew
taking for granted
the strides that we've made
elevating the risks
we thought we weighed
dwelling on the negative
always so critical
never giving an inch
so damn cynical
the undying guilt
never ending shame
we set ourselves up
to take all the blame
more often than not
we do have a tendency
to be --
our own worst enemy.

good Tuesday to you @macksby. I wanted to apologize for the minimal upvotes. As I am sure you've noticed, the amount of posts are way up with the price increase. I have a lot of steemians I attempt to support and the majority have increased their posting. It has thrashed my voting power and I'm attempting to recover.
