Head Above Water…
Life can be daunting
just trying to
stay alive
working three jobs
hoping to survive
the battles we're
faced with
that won't go away
it's hard to imagine
we wake up each day
it can
lay you to waste
in the blink of an eye
no rhyme or reason
it just needs a fall guy
watching so many
struggle
or die
never understanding
not knowing why
trying to catch up
but always
one step behind
searching for answers
a little peace of mind
staying afloat
against
its rising tide
can test your limits
assault your pride
like the prey
of a hunter
caught in his sight
unwilling to go down
without a fight
this self sustaining
entity
with ironies so rich
some even say
life is a bitch
sometimes you even
feel like
the sheep at a slaughter
just trying to keep
your.., head above water.
