Falseness - Original

Behold the shapeless masses,
shuffling around without a care.
Led in circles by our own assurances,
gripping tight to things once known
but that are now forgotten.
Believing in our shield
founded of truth and righteousness,
but which has now become a sword
of deceit and treachery.
Born onto an assembly line
leading to the pit that is our dream,
we uphold ourselves as the powerhouse of truth,
and harbingers of justice.
We praise our good deeds
and declare freedom for all,
while knocking down the doors
of those expressing their right to life
and freedom of speech.
We declare our deepest sympathies
to refugees of wars
and survivors of disasters,
while turning our backs
and flipping the channel.
We carry thoughts in our head
of ending world hunger
and bettering ourselves,
all the while trampling on the homeless
and spitting on their despair.
We are the self-proclaimed saviors,
here to free you with bombs from the air.
With eyes turned outwards to the world
and thoughts inwards to our gold,
we have blinded ourselves
with the glory of the past,
refusing to acknowledge the truth in our face:
we are slaves. Untouchables
who fancy themselves Kings,
ruling over our empire of dirt
with two-faced promises written
in the blood of those who hurt.
We are the deceived, being ruled
by liars and thieves,
but believe that the liars are overseas,
and that the thieves aren’t right down the street.
One day, the speechless will unite
and cast out the demons of old.
They will overturn our world
and we will only wonder,
and do what we’re told.
