TO THE SOULS OF THE LOST: GENOCIDE IN RWANDA

Still in mourning, though not a Rwandan but an African, I express my deepest Passion for unity with a diction inspired in pain.

           TO THE SOULS OF THE LOST

I've always wondered how,
In a bid to find out why,..
We, yes we, humans,
Always see differences in our similarities.
Leaving nothing but hate,
And selfish desire to hurt,

What a life so fake,
One not of human nature
But of animal nature.
In the pursuit of power,
We tend to be wise
But end up being fools.

Killing our brothers,
Abusing our sisters,
Teaching our sons coersion
Losing our daughters to emotional slavery.

Thousands die
For the sake of politicians,
Who do nothing but lie.
In the sand lies our families under*
Everyday perishing, reducing in number*

Don't tell me about your reasons,
I'm not willing to hear
What reason could be good enough to
do nothing but end our generations.

On in a plight of seeking power
For ethnic prayers answered
We drink blood,
And eat flesh,
Not in salvation of our souls,
But in Betrayal of heritage.

We forget that 100,000 souls
Means 100,000 generations.
Thus, 100,000 souls dead,
Are 100,000 generations dead.
Thus, a generation of 100,000 has been stopped.

To those souls that have kept on crying,
Right from April 1994,
I plead that you rest,
For Rwanda is one now.
To all those souls have never seen their seeblings again,
Or that will never meet them again.

I plead that your heart not
Bleed in pain anymore, for Rwanda,
Is one now.
And thus, I say---
To the souls of the lost*
I can simply do nothing much but say.
