LOL! I sure wish I could take you out there in some way that would keep you feeling safe so that you could experience riding a wave; there is nothing quite like it, in my experience.
How would you hold up if it were a "virtual reality" simulation? :) Could you do that minus the fear factor?
I've been on some pretty convincing virtual reality roller coaster rides, for example, where they move your seat with hydraulic operators so that you truly feel as if you are riding; perhaps you could get a taste of surfing in that way? :) It really isn't to be missed!

Yeah I probably could as I would know I wasn't going to drown, unless the Virtual reality is under water lol
