If You Let Me
Into me
And show you
Moonlit spaces,
Lonely stars
and desolate places.
If you let me.
You may think I’m
Like others,
I’m not—
I love you
Inside out
And am far
More needy
Than you
Ever thought.
I’m a forgotten plant
In a wintry room
Feeble and dusty
In the gloom
But find me
Water me,
Give me a place
And I will blossom
In beautiful ways…
If you let me.
I've been that plant not able to swallow. The level of dryness as close to death as I've ever been. Looking at the water nearby with dilated pupils, so wide with the possibility of survival.
I admire your writing @johnjgeddes. You tell a story without even trying...like braille for my heart and arms.

This poem would make beautiful lyrics to a song. I can almost hear the melody - strangely I hear an upbeat tempo to balance the sadness -
to build on that hope. Nice job.
