Shakespearean Sonnet I: Twilight Desire

The eyes of night cannot compare to yours
my stormy Deva, passions’ cause to swoon
in heavens’ mounds beyond dreams’ airy shores
with lips of rose to rival blooming moon.

A Sylph of wind, the twilight in my eyes
is sparked by crystal fire and ebon locks
that whip a tempest ‘round my heart in sighs
and scents desire with hope in midnight phlox.

But dreams come to an end with rising dawn
as love wanes dreary, lead becomes my limbs
in wheeled reclining chair I’m just a pawn
and fate taunts recall as your beauty dims.

With greying tresses that caress me now
you brush a gentle kiss upon my brow.

I love these lines. They resonate with me.

It is so nice to hear words such as yours - I'm glad they resonate with you. Thank you so much.

I so much love this poem, the use of imagery and the appropriate use of poetic devices

Thank you for your comment and enjoying my poem - however, an upvote is a concrete way to show appreciation and support to the author.

Your description of old age is a beauty

Thank you so much! I've been away from my computer most of today, but will try to get to your post to see what you've written - if not tonight, then tomorrow.

I saw your comment already... thanks...

Is there a way we could chat?? I'd really love to learn more about sonnets from you because what I've been getting off the internet is really sketchy gibberish

If you're on Facebook, please send me a friend request, and we can chat in private messaging, okay? https://www.facebook.com/JulieCatherineEdwards

In the meantime, I will try to find you some good links to Classical Poetry Formats that might be of some help to you.

Thanks a lot ma... that would be helpful... I would endevour to message you as soon as possible..

You've made aging sound beautiful ❤️

Awww, thank you so much; what a lovely comment! xox
