To the one that got away, here’s what I have to say.
You have made my heart beat, since that first day.
After the school days ended, ‘twas the month of May.
Broken was my heart, shattered and dismayed.
For a love that failed, and went astray.

June was the month, or love blossomed.
Filled with excitement, every day to me was awesome.
Your messages, phone calls and greetings were all I care for.
Every weekend, for me was worth waiting for.
To be with you, in that moment I could ask no more.

But then seasons changed and so did your feelings for me.
Your sweetness that I have longed for, oh so dearly.
Every day we have fights and arguments that I so hate.
The feelings were not mutual anymore, so I can’t relate.
You’ve lost that love, at least that’s how I feel as of late.

And so you decided that we should go our separate ways.
Mixed emotions, yes, that’s how I felt but none of hate.
I let you go, be happy think none of me, that’s what I said.
But deep inside, I am broken beyond repair or comprehend.
And so I’ll tell you now before I lay.

I loved you then, and so do now. To the one that got away.
