This poem was inspired by the sense of community that I felt and witnessed in México City during the earthquake yesterday.

The first stanza was when I was in San Pedro la Laguna, Guatemala and was dancing the night away in a bar when it happened to no negative emotions due to the atmosphere I was in. The second was in México City when I was on the couch in the living room about to start writing when it happened. The rest explains earth's vengeance, peoples resilience and the bonds of family and strong sense of community that resonates within all of us and shines through brilliantly in most cases, especially in a time of havoc and need.

My house mate and I ran through the building aiding older people down to the roads as they cried and was worried more about others than themselves only to be met by family. My eyes moistened as I saw car after car of grandchildren, children and parents the likes all flock to the front of our buildings to make sure families were all safe. That pure genuine love and care really touched an old part of me and reminds me that there's still hope for us all yet.

I hope my experience today reminds everyone that no matter who you are or where you are, regardless of the language barriers, we should always appreciate the people around us and the pure genuine heartfelt care that majority of people have.
