A Whinge about Buses (Original Poem)

in #poetry8 years ago (edited)

Does this sound familiar...

Just around the corner
Around another bend,
That's when said the informer
5 minutes, 1 minute, due.
But it's wrong my friend,
For it hasn't got a clue.

We've played lots of eye spy
To make the time go by.
Lots of groans and moans
And kicking of stones,
Wondering, pondering, waiting
Why, why, why contemplating.

After waiting a long time,
Enough to write a rhyme
One might suddenly appear
To an almighty cheer
A you can hardly believe your eyes
It's like a first place booby prize.

Then if you are really lucky
The driver stops to use the phone,
Leaves the vehicle, takes the key
To tell his boss he wants to go home!
You are back out on your ear
Waiting what seems like another year.

Three in an hour?
Don't make me laugh,
The taste is rather sour.
Tell the chief of staff -
Its a nightmare to any
But a lifeline to many.

It causes a stink and a whine
The evasive Ninety Nine.
