A Year Ago Today I Needed An Angel - And I Got One

Collapsed on the floor, couldn’t take anymore,
She raised her face to heaven and she cried.
I need and Angel Lord, to save me, as tears flowed
She’d lost her courage and her soul and her pride
God looked down upon her, he was always there
He reached into her heart and gave it light
Then earthly arms came around her, lifting her to upright
The Angel on the earth saw her plight
He held her oh so closely and gazed into her eyes
He recognised the pain that twinned his own
The meeting of the souls in the world of broken dreams
He understood her wings had never flown
So, he took her close to heaven in a heartbeat
And he showered her with love a pure as light
He showed her she had meaning, upon him she was leaning
This love was one, she knew she would not fight
And the Angel held her softly but with firmness and with strength
She began to stand up on the floor
And together, in the spirit on the land that they both loved
They were one and one alone for evermore
